What is latex and why is it so highly valued in a mattress?
Latex is an elastic material obtained from the sap of the Hevea brasiliensis tree. When properly processed, it becomes a flexible and resistant block that stands out for its ability to adapt to the body without losing its shape.
Its open cell structure allows continuous air circulation, helping to maintain a cool and healthy rest.
In latex mattresses combined with natural fibers, latex provides:
• Adaptability: It adjusts to the shape of the body, distributes weight, and reduces pressure points.
• Resilience: returns to its original shape quickly, maintaining comfort night after night.
• Durability: it is a material with a long lifespan and stable behavior over time.
• Silent comfort: it does not transmit movements, which facilitates a more stable rest.
Latex and natural fibers: a balanced combination
By combining latex with layers of fibers such as cotton, hemp, wool, or bamboo, you obtain a more comfortable mattress that breathes better, regulates moisture, and offers a firmer, more natural feeling of support.
While latex provides elasticity, natural fibers balance the structure of the mattress, give it stability and add properties such as breathability, thermal regulation and organic feel.
The result is a type of handcrafted mattress (made by ourselves), which maintains the traditional essence, but with the modern comfort of latex: firm but cozy, flexible but stable, and with an ergonomics that respects the resting posture.
